HOW OUR MOST DURABLE RIVER CONSTRUCTION WAS BORN

Winter gives us the space to rebuild, rethink, and push our constructions forward. Therefore, we set ourselves one clear goal last season: To take our river board construction to the next level - and we weren’t going to stop until we achieved the durability needed to handle the toughest river waves.

And why? Riversurfing is extremely tough - especially on the equipment. Riverwaves have a different kind of power: constant pressure, instant impact, and no room for weakness. We wanted to find a way to build boards that meet 100% of our expectations and exceed them. A construction that really matches the toughness and power of the waves - in materials, as well as performance.

That meant going the extra mile - and then a few more. Through the entire winter, we poured our time, energy, and passion into research and development. We built, broke, rebuilt, and refined. We tested every material, every layer, every detail and were proud to launch our ImpacTec River Construction as a result.

How We Got There: Redefining Durability


1. DIVING DEEP INTO R&D

To make it happen, we went all-in on research and development. We questioned everything from established constructions to traditional reinforcements and pushed ourselves to think beyond what had been done before.

Every lesson we’d learned from years of building boards became part of the process. We combined proven methods with bold new ideas, experimented with different materials, and reimagined how a river board could be built from the inside out.

From there, we created the first prototypes - not to admire them, but to destroy them. They were built for one purpose: to face the toughest testing conditions we could find.

 

2. TESTING WITHOUT HOLDING BACK

Our philosophy was simple: if a board survives the tests, it’s ready. If it doesn’t, we learn and improve. Every round of testing helped us understand more about how our constructions react to real river conditions - the pressure, the impact, the wear and tear. Each insight brought us closer to a board that could truly handle it all.

After our own tests, we passed the prototypes on to the Wellenwerk crew - one of the most experienced river surf teams out there. They surf every day, know their waves inside out, and don’t hold back. If a board can handle their sessions, it can handle anything. Their honest and unfiltered feedback helped us fine-tune every detail and push our construction to where we wanted it to be.

 

3. FROM IDEA TO IMPACTEC

After countless sessions and several feedback loops, one construction stood out - meeting every expectation we had. A few rounds of fine-tuning later, our new ImpacTec River Construction was born.

And the ultimate confirmation? During our KANOA Tryout Days, the river surf community confirmed what we already felt: ImpacTec is made for riverwaves, no compromises, no excuses. This is exactly what we set out to achieve - boards that don’t just withstand river surfing, but meet our highest durability standards.

 


The results: OUR MOST DURABLE RIVER CONSTRUCTION TO DATE

The Riverboards are reinforced exactly in the spots that are most quickly affected when surfing artificial waves. Therefore, the rails and fin boxes come stronger than ever and are protected with extra fiberglass that has been integrated into our manufacturing process.  With reinforced Innegra™ Rails, a core-anchored finbox system, and a 4+4/6 oz hybrid S-Glass layup, these boards take durability to new heights.

Anchored to the core for unmatched plug stability.

Our newly developed finbox technology features a high-strength S-Glass beam that connects the FCS2 finbox to both top and bottom laminate, reinforcing the structure against torsional and impact forces.

This design enhances longevity, reduces failure under pressure, and keeps your board performing in the heaviest conditions.

A heavy-duty 4+4/6 oz layup that keeps the board light but extremely durable.
