RE-FUSED Technology

RE-FUSED Technology describes our unique resin infusion process that is realized with RE-cyclable epoxy resin. The advanced aeronautic process allows to maximize the materials performance and create outstanding durability with that incomparable liveliness in the board. We evolved this usually wastage intensive process to consist entirely out of RE-usable components and significantly RE-duce trash.

DURABILITY

The 3D structure reinforces the board in its flex and significantly reduces the risk of pressure dents and dings. At the same time the increased surface of the honeycombs improves the bond between foam and reinforcement layer, therefore eliminating the risk of delamination.

These improved characteristics allow us to integrate natural or bio-synthetic fiber while maintaining outstanding durability.

The HRT technology creates a surfboard whose durability far exceeds that of a standard PU hardboard without sacrificing any performance at all.

FLEX CONTINUITY

HRT allows us to precisely finetune the flex of a surfboard in order to find the perfect mix out of liveliness, response and vibration dampening. Once set and thanks to the superior bond between layup and core, the boards perfect flex will last for its lifetime.

SUSTAINABILITY

HRT is based on a holistically sustainable and recyclable material choice. Being designed for circularity, the construction stands out through its eco-conception.

A HRT Surfboard is based on a 70% recyclable and 30% biobased wood content closed cell foam that will not absorb any water at all. Followed by bio-synthetic fibers such as flax or hemp. One construction combines it with a glass layer. With the specially formulated biobased and recyclable epoxy resin the board is not only strong but also fully recyclable.

 

 


HRT MATERIAL CONFIGURATION


WHAT's Inside?

CLOSED CELL CORE MATERIAL

A closed cell core that does not absorb water, consisting out of 30% biobased and 70% recycled material. The core is showing exceptional pressure resistance and a characteristic flex pattern.

3D FIBER LAYUP

Our patented 3D Structure consisting out of a Viscose / Hemp Layer combined with a quadraxial fiber glass alignment allowing for absolute responsiveness and vibration dampening.

RECYCLABLE RESIN SYSTEM

A specifically formulated 28% biobased and truly recyclable epoxy resin system is bonding all elements with our RE-FUSED manufacturing process.

ADDITIVES

An elastic caoutchouc based additive that improves the boards shock and impact resistance while further improving the vibration dampening and overall board feel.


MADE & SOURCED IN EUROPE, BUILT IN FRANCE


HRT Surfboards are built in our microfactory in the french basque country.

The selected materials are almost entirely sourced in Europe. We created a process that allows for consistency and reproducibility while avoiding production wastage and closing the first loops on the way to circularity.



ON THE WAY TO CIRCULARITY

Recyclability is one of the main challenges in the world of composite as especially wind blades and turbines will end up as land fill after passing their lifetime. In the surf industry, recyclability is unfortunately not existing in a commercialised product.

We create surfboards that consist of 100% recyclable materials and which are bonded by a 100% recyclable and biobased Epoxy resin. The material selection is in line with the current efforts for the recycling of surfboards in a circular system.

Honey Roots Technology has been honoured by the JEC WORLD INNOVATION AWARD 2025 in the Sports & Leisure Category. We are beyond thankful for this prestigious recognition and we are excited to demonstrate our Innovation next to the most groundbreaking composite technologies.

We will be showcasing HRT among selected innovations from the world of aerospace, automotive, transportation and many other industries during the JEC Trade Show in Paris from 4-6 March 2025.
