WHERE IS HOME FOR YOU?

Home is not a place for me. It depends on the people I’m with. When I’m around family or friends, home can be anywhere.

HOW DID YOU START SURFING AND WHERE?

I started surfing in the ocean around 9 years old in California. My mom is a really big surfer and taught my brother and me every water sport including surfing haha.

WHAT IS YOUR ALL-TIME FAVORITE WAVE/SPOT?

I would say my favorite surf spot is Lower Trestles. That wave is just so perfect!

WHAT IS YOUR NUMBER ONE SURFING DESTINATION YOU STILL NEED TO VISIT?

I definitely need to visit Australia! It’s at the top of my list for sure. So many amazing surf spots and cool people.

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR DOWNTIME IN BETWEEN SURFING?

I play guitar, cook, mind surf, play other sports, and work to save money for surf trips:)

WHAT OTHER BOARD SPORTS DO YOU DO?

I like to skateboard and snowboard!

YOUR UNIQUE SKILL?

Doing a hang five on my shortboard haha.

BEST EXCUSE TO SKIP A WORKOUT?

Waves are firing and nobody is out…

QUIVER CHOICE

RIDES:

Battery 5’10 – 27L with a rounded squash tail is my all around Shortboard that provides lots of agility but also holds though weaker sections.

My favourite Board is the Escalator 5’11 – 29L which is a little narrower and has a pin tail to generate more speed when waves are faster, hollow and powerful. Also works good when it’s a bit bigger and still has really good agility.

As a kind of Step up I use the Escalator 6’2 – 31L for the big days when it’s difficult to catch one and to get in earlier. Helps me also to move faster to get in the right position.

MEASUREMENTS:

Tobi is 184 cm tall and weighs 75 kg.
