Welcome to the first Rapid Wave of the Franconian part of Bavaria… or as Minister President Markus Söder likes to say, “Welcome to Bavarian Hawaii”.

The Nuremberg Fuchslochwelle is one of the most innovative Rapid Wave projects and represents the first semi-natural wave in Germany.

The Dauerwelle Verein has opened the wave at Nuremberg’s Fuchsloch in spring 2022 and already held the German Rapid Surfing Championships there in April. In summer, the wave will be opened for all surfers. Sessions can then be booked on the website.

WIDTH

5.5 TO 8 METERS

The wave has several modules. If there is little water, the width can be adjusted in order to still have enough pressure.

HEIGHT

0.5 TO 1.5 METERS

Due to the variable system, the height of the wave comes from the water level and the adjustment of the system. Thus beginners to pro sessions are possible.

By adjusting the wave width and the angle of the ramp in front of the wave, the strength of the wave can also be variably adjusted.

SURF THE CITY OF NÜRNBERG

The facility of Dauerwelle e.V. is located directly on the bike path of the Pegnitzufer and therefore could not be easier to reach.
If you come from the region, just jump on your bike and you can’t miss the wave along the bike path… Because there are spectators whenever the wave is in operation.

The wave is also easily accessible by car. The parking lot of the club is 3-4 minutes walk away. A detailed description of the parking situation can be found here.

 

An additional channel to the Pegnitz was built for the wave itself. The flow rate of the water in the channel, as well as the steepness of the wave ramp can be adjusted, making many different strong settings of the wave possible. The wave itself is created solely by the flowing force of the water.
So from settings for beginners to the absolute contest mode, everything is possible.

THE WAVE

The Fuchsloch-Wave is completely adjustable in width and height. Therefore, the difficulty and behavior of the wave may vary. In most settings, the wave is powerful and has a lot of pressure. However, due to the adjustability of the amount of water, relaxed sessions with a little less pressure are also possible.

So from beginner sessions to contest mode, everything is possible.

At full width, the wave with 8 meters offers enough space for long-drawn turns and tricks of all kinds. Even in 2-module mode (at 5.5 meters wide) there is still enough space for all kinds of maneuvers.

The transition of the wave is relatively small and steep. We therefore recommend that you ride shorter boards with more nose rocker to avoid nose dives.

Secret tip: grab some ice cream at Campo-Eis around the corner after your session. :)

“I surfed the wave at a lot of level and found it a bit challenging. It has loads of pressure and the ramp is rather steep. Therefore, you should surf short boards. But since the wave can be adjusted, there is something for every surfer.”
